I had this horrible thing happen to me recently. I got curious about a chemical component of food, a component of wheat specifically. The next thing I knew I was calling people and giving them dissertations on the poisons we are all eating and not knowing about etc. I started reading even more labels than usual. I threw out half of what was lurking in my pantry. I stated cooking differently and eating differently. My daughters are horrified that “Mom has gone hippie on us” and they have demanded the inception of what they are referring to as “poison-night” in our house. The rules for Poison Night are simple: they will agree to tolerate my tofu and natural PB & organic J, if they can eat food out of a box once a month. I’ll agree to it. I think it won’t be long till they find that food gross too, but I’ll let them figure that out themselves!
